It's been more than 5 years since I last logged on. I doubt I'll stick around, though. Whatever.

See you in another 5 years, probably. Or hell, maybe I'll be back tomorrow.

It's that time again, folks. Today marks 7 years on DeviantArt for me. I haven't really done anything with this account this year. Meh.

So...

Mom's surgery (remember that? see the last journal if you care) went fine. She can see through the one eye now. Unfortunately, other unrelated health issues have forced her to put off the other eye indefinitely.

Lately I've been spending time with my ex. Definitely mixed feelings there.

I'm not doing much on dA these days. No surprises there, and especially not if you're one of the very very few people who know me offline.

(FWIW, I'm mostly doing this journal to get the previous one off my front page.)

So, my mother has cataracts in both eyes. Yeah, it happens, but she's almost completely blind now.

Tuesday (as in "the day after tomorrow") she's having surgery to remove the right one.

Cataract surgery is relatively high-risk; 0.1% (that's 1 in 1000) lose vision in the affected eye after the surgery.

If this happens to the first eye, the doctor WILL NOT do the second surgery, and my mother will be left completely blind by, oh, probably the end of next year.

Wish us luck, people. We need it.
